Safer play at Hidden Jack
Last revised 26 September 2026
Playing should stay fun
Casino games are entertainment you pay for, much like a cinema ticket or a round at the pub. Over time the house has the edge, so the healthiest way to play is with a budget you have already made peace with losing. If you win, lovely. If you don’t, the evening still cost what you planned and not a penny more.
Setting a budget that works
- Decide on your amount before you log in, not while you are playing.
- Use money left over after bills, rent and food, never savings or borrowed money.
- Set the same figure as a deposit limit, so your account keeps to the plan for you.
- Treat any win as a bonus. Withdrawing part of it is a good habit, and verified payouts move quickly.
- Pick a finishing time as well as a budget. Stopping at the time you chose feels better than stopping when the balance runs out.
The tools in your account
You’ll find every one of these in your profile under Responsible gaming. They work on the phone just as they do on a laptop.
Deposit and loss limits
Set a maximum you can deposit per day, week or month, and a separate limit on how much you can lose. Lowering a limit works straight away. Raising one only takes effect after a cooling-off period, so a decision made in the heat of the moment has time to settle.
- Log in and open your profile.
- Choose Responsible gaming, then Deposit limit or Loss limit.
- Pick a period: day, week or month.
- Enter the amount and confirm.
A lower limit applies at once. A higher limit starts only after 24 hours, and you can cancel the increase during that time if you change your mind.
Reality check
Choose an interval and a reminder appears on screen showing how long you’ve been playing and what you’ve won or lost in that time. It’s a small nudge, and a surprisingly useful one.
Time-out
Need a pause? A time-out locks your account for anything from a day to several weeks. You can’t cancel it early, which is the point.
- Open your profile and choose Responsible gaming.
- Select Time-out and pick the length of the break.
- Confirm with your password. You are logged out straight away.
Your balance stays safe during a time-out, and you can still ask support to process a withdrawal that was already requested.
Self-exclusion
If you want to stop for longer, self-exclusion closes your account for the period you choose and works the moment you confirm it. During that time we won’t send you offers. Hidden Jack is not part of GAMSTOP, so a GAMSTOP registration doesn’t reach us automatically; if you are registered with GAMSTOP, please use our self-exclusion as well, or ask live chat to do it for you.
- Withdraw any real balance you want to keep.
- Open your profile, choose Responsible gaming, then Self-exclusion.
- Choose the period and confirm. The account closes at once.
- Consider adding the outside blocks described below, so the break covers other sites too.
While you are self-excluded, we won’t accept a new account in your name, at your address or from your device.
Signs to take seriously
- You play for longer, or with more money, than you intended.
- You chase losses with another deposit to win it back.
- You borrow money or use credit to gamble.
- You hide your gambling from people close to you.
- You feel anxious, low or irritable when you aren’t playing.
One of these on its own is a reason to pause. Several together are a reason to talk to someone today.
A quick self-check
Answer these honestly, just for yourself:
- Have I spent more than I planned in the last month?
- Do I need to bet more than before to get the same buzz?
- Have I tried to cut down and found it hard?
- Has gambling caused an argument at home or a worry about money?
- Do I play to escape stress, boredom or a low mood?
- Have I missed work, sleep or time with family because of a session?
If you answered yes more than once, set a limit or a time-out today and have a look at the self-assessment on BeGambleAware. It takes a few minutes and is completely anonymous.
Free help in the UK
The National Gambling Helpline is free and confidential on 0808 8020 133, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. It is run by GamCare, which also offers live chat, support groups and treatment. BeGambleAware has a quick self-assessment, practical tips and guidance for family members. You don’t need to be in crisis to call; many people ring simply to talk things through.
Extra locks outside Hidden Jack
Many UK banks let you switch on a gambling block for your debit card in their app. Blocking software for phones and computers can stop gambling sites loading on your devices altogether. Using more than one of these together makes a relapse much harder.
To switch on a bank gambling block:
- Open your banking app and go to the card settings.
- Look for an option called gambling block, gambling payments or spending controls.
- Switch it on for each debit card you hold.
Many banks add a waiting period before the block can be turned off again, which gives you time to think. If your bank doesn’t offer the feature, its customer service team can often set a block for you.
Under 18s
Nobody under 18 may open an account or play at Hidden Jack. We check age and identity before any withdrawal. If children share your devices, keep your password private and consider parental control software.
Friends and family
If someone close to you is gambling too much, the helpline above supports you too. You are welcome to contact our support team with your concerns; we will listen and, where the rules allow, act.
A few things tend to help when you are worried about someone:
- Choose a calm moment to talk, and describe what you have noticed rather than blaming.
- Avoid lending money to cover losses, even when the request sounds urgent.
- Protect your own finances, for example with separate accounts.
- Look after yourself too. GamCare and BeGambleAware both run support meant for family members.
